Dear Reencle Enthusiasts,
As we transition into the colder months, with temperatures falling and daylight hours shortening, the task of managing an outdoor compost pile can become markedly less appealing. Winter undoubtedly imposes challenges on the composting process: the availability of organic material from gardens or local sources dwindles, and the cooler conditions significantly decelerate the microbial activity within compost piles. It is widely acknowledged that biological activity in soil diminishes once temperatures fall below 45°F (7°C), leading to a period of dormancy for the soil and its microbial inhabitants throughout the winter. Despite this, with appropriate measures, soil quality can indeed improve during these colder months
