Frequently Asked Questions

What is the size of the unit? MegaReencle V3 measures 79.6 × 45.4 × 46.2 in (2,022 × 1,152 × 1,173 mm) and weighs 1,609 lb (730 kg) net. It ships in a wooden crate of 88.6 × 53.5 × 66.9 in (2,250 × 1,360 × 1,700 mm) that weighs 2,393 lb (1,085.5 kg). Unloading needs a forklift, or a toe jack and a pallet jack. Plan an access route and doorways wide enough for the unit.

What is needed for installation? You need a level floor rated for 1,609 lb, a dedicated 220 to 230 V single-phase 30 A circuit breaker that the unit is wired into, and a clear access route. The unit does not plug into a wall outlet. Before installation day, your facilities team has an electrician install the breaker. Outdoors the unit needs a roof or awning. Indoors it needs venting to the outside or the activated carbon filter option. No water hookup or drain is needed, and a small condensation hose can run into a bucket or tray.

Leave at least 4 in (10 cm) behind the unit, and leave room on the compost outlet side and the service-door side. Ask the Reencle team for the exact clearances. Reencle-certified technicians set the unit in place, start the microbes, and train your team on site.

How much electricity does it use? MegaReencle uses about 1.6 kWh per hour of operation and peaks at 4.5 kW. It runs on 220 to 230 V, 50 to 60 Hz, single-phase power and draws 21 A. Power is the only utility it needs. It does not need water or gas.

Does it smell? With the lids closed, there is little odor around the unit. When a lid is open, you may notice the natural smell of the microbial culture. Placement manages odor: outdoors under cover, vented to the outside, or with an activated carbon filter in enclosed rooms. A foul smell usually means the moisture is off, the mesh filter is blocked, or spoiled food is still breaking down. The Reencle team walks you through the fix.

How do you empty it, and how often? Most sites empty it every 10 to 14 days, depending on how much and how often they feed it. The display shows a reminder. Put a bucket under the outlet port, open the port, and keep the top lids closed. The stirring arm pushes the compost out. Stop when the compost is level with the arm, because what stays inside carries the microbes. The unit is never emptied completely. Emptying before the first feeding of the day works best.

What do you do with the compost? The compost comes out unfinished. Mix 4 parts soil to 1 part compost in a breathable container or a pile and cure it for at least three weeks. A slight alcohol smell during curing is normal. Use it once it is cool and smells earthy. Sites use it for landscaping and gardens, share it with staff, customers, and neighbors, or donate it to community gardens and farms. If you have no use for it on site, the Reencle team helps you find a home for it.

What service and maintenance does it need? Daily, check that the compost feels like a damp sponge. Weekly, check and rinse the mesh filter and wipe down the unit. Every 10 to 14 days, empty the excess compost. Monthly, do a deeper clean, check the exhaust airflow, and test the emergency stop. Once a year, a technician inspects and calibrates the unit and greases the drive chain. Activated carbon filters, if fitted, typically last 9 to 12 months. The microbes reproduce on their own, so you replace them only if the culture fails. There are no blades to sharpen.

What support does Reencle offer? The US team in Springville, Utah installs the unit and trains your staff on site. After installation the team stays involved through scheduled virtual meetings, where it reviews how the unit is running, answers questions, and adjusts feeding and moisture. With the optional Maintenance Service Plan, a Reencle technician visits weekly, every two weeks, or monthly to service the machine and send a visit report with throughput and diversion figures. Contact the team at help@reencleus.com or 877-640-0681.

Can it go indoors or outdoors? Both. Most US sites run the unit outdoors under a simple roof or awning, close to where food waste is already collected. It needs cover from rain and snow because it is not waterproof. Indoors it needs venting to the outside, or the activated carbon filter option for enclosed rooms without external venting.

What happens on weekends, holidays, or closures? Days without feeding are part of normal operation. Offices often rest over weekends and holidays, restaurants on their closed day, and schools and seasonal venues over longer breaks. Before a longer closure, check the compost moisture and add water if it feels dry. For closures of a month or more, the Reencle team plans with you, such as a light feeding schedule or a service visit before you close. As a rule of thumb, feeding at least a quarter of the daily capacity keeps the culture healthy.

The Bottom Line

MegaReencle V3 is a commercial electric composter for up to 220 lb of food waste a day. It needs a level floor, a dedicated 30 A breaker, and cover or venting for its location. Most sites empty it every 10 to 14 days and cure the compost for at least three weeks before use. The Reencle team installs it, trains your staff, and stays involved after installation.
